Traditional
technologies are still being used in the classroom in order to relate certain
areas in subject content. Teachers are still using Overhead projectors,
VCR and even desktop computers to prepare classroom materials and
presentations. Students use desktop computers to search for information
they may need for reports, research and even take tests.
The
introduction of emerging technology used in the classroom such as WiFi, Web 2.0
including podcast, Wiki and Blogs are some of the few new technologies
used. Our millennial are more engaged in the evolution of
technology. Many students personally own some of these new technologies
such as an ipad or iphone and is very much accustomed
to them. By introducing these technologies in the classroom teachers are
able to relate the content of their lesson plan in a less challenging way and
students are more engages and enthused about learning.
The technology
used has to be evaluated in order to protect the privacy and interests of the
students as well as stick to the guidelines of the teaching
curriculum. Teachers may use formative evaluations relating to the
planning and implementing of the technology or summative evaluation that test
the performance outcome of the technology used.
